A Toast to Timeless Design: Crafting a Whiskey Room at Wildfair for a Worthy Cause
We are honored to have been chosen by the Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center as one of the designers showcasing our talents at their Mansion in May 2025 fundraiser. While our work has graced charitable home tours in the past, our participation in Mansion in May marks our debut in a showhouse of this grandeur, and every step of the journey has been nothing short of inspiring and rewarding.
This year’s showhouse is the historic Wildfair estate in Chester, NJ. When it came to selecting a space at Wildfair, we were immediately captivated by the rich wood paneling, architectural detail, and the allure of the attached outdoor patio. In this room, we saw a story waiting to unfold—a space ready to be reimagined and brought to life.
Originally built to be a study, we reimagined this space as a whiskey lounge—a place where quiet conversation flows easily, where the warmth of a single malt lingers on the tongue, and where summer nights on the patio turn magical under a canopy of stars, cigar in hand. This vision shaped every design decision, breathing soul into every corner.
We drew inspiration from our past projects where we transformed overlooked corners into beloved sanctuaries, and envisioned a room that would transcend its original function. Often, formal living rooms go unnoticed, reminiscent of spaces from childhood deemed too pristine to touch. Our mission is to break this tradition—to create rooms that beckon you in, that feel inviting and lived-in. We breathe life and warmth into these forgotten spaces by transforming formal living rooms into intimate lounges. The allure of moody, darker palettes draws us in, their deep, rich hues creating a cocoon of calm and comfort. Thoughtful seating choices, like plush club chairs gathered around a chat table, foster connection and spark conversation. Layered lighting and sophisticated textures complete the transformation, making these rooms perfect retreats for unwinding or entertaining.
We’ve found that until its purpose has been defined, some rooms often become a collection of the homeowners’ spare furniture and their children’s toy overflow. We recently worked with a client whose sitting room had become just that—a space without identity. As their children grew and their needs evolved, they sought to reclaim the space for themselves. Thus, "The Barrel Room" was born, named for the wine barrel they’d brought back from their engagement trip to South Africa. This single cherished piece became the soul of the design, infusing the room with sentimental value and a spirit of adventure.
For our lounge projects, the art of styling lies in these meaningful details. Every object tells a story, every piece inspires curiosity. For the Mansion in May showhouse, we poured this same philosophy into the creation of a whiskey room brimming with character. Everywhere you look, from the sumptuous fabric choices to the carefully curated decor objects, you’ll find stories waiting to be discovered.
Every element in this space has been chosen with care and intention, and we are thrilled to unveil this labor of love to the public. We are equally excited to witness the artistry of all of the talented designers participating in this extraordinary event. We warmly invite our Westfield neighbors and beyond to experience the magic of Wildfair this May and support a noble cause—the new Proton Therapy Center at Morristown Medical Center.
